Homecoming, San Francisco Bay Area - July 2021

This was our first trip back to California since being married. We spent our time catching up with family and friends while doing a bit of exploring and lots of eating (Chef Chu’s, Jamba and In-n-out was on the menu).

One of the first things we noticed during one of our hikes was just how dry everything in the South Bay seemed. The almost decade long drought which seemed to have ended in 2017 made a resurgence this year. It was like walking through live tinder.

I visited the Stanford campus for the first time in my life, Paul’s alma mater. A beautiful campus with the Mission influence in its architecture, I spent the day taking photos of the many rounded archways, columns and red roofs. I stopped by the Cantor collection to catch the Rodins.

Filoli is a hidden gem in Woodside with acres of estate, gardens and orchards.

We took a walking tour of the Chinatown and North Beach neighborhoods to understand not only the urban landscape but the history of the peoples that have shaped the past, present and future of this little city by the bay.
