Gothic Revival, Tarrytown - August 2021

Of all things Gothic, I am most fascinated by Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and the stories of the Headless Horseman. This trip to Tarrytown was a bit different where we explored the Lyndhurst Mansion and its grounds.

The architect of the mansion, Alexander Jackson Davis, was a good friend of Sunnyside’s Washington Irving.
