The last time we had gone to see KA’s Aunt Judi was in February of 2020, right before the start of the pandemic. On this trip, we got to explore the entirety of the Cape and even made it out to Martha’s Vineyard for some New England summering.
As KA has said, it wouldn’t truly be a trip to the Cape if we didn’t show off our lighthouse pictures to prove we were there. From left to right, we have the Nauset, Chatham and Edgartown lighthouses.
Pictured above, are the Gingerbread Houses at Oak Bluffs, Martha’s Vineyard. Each of these Victorian cottages have a unique design and are almost miniature in their stature. It’s always a pleasure to walk around this neighborhood and discover a cottage or its details you might have missed during the previous visit.
In stark contrast to the cute little cottages of Martha’s Vineyard, Judi took us to the North Shore (pronounced Naawth Show) Castle Hill Mansion on the Crane Estate. This English-Style mansion had a Grand Allée that runs for about half a mile from the back entrance of the mansion to the coastal cliffs overlooking Ipswich Bay. This allée is a rolling green corridor and was designed by the Olmsted brothers, the architects of Central and Prospect Parks in NYC.
